Osman Gazi, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, was born in 1258 in Sogut. He was the son of Ertugrul Gazi and Halime Hatun. Osman Gazi was tall with round face, hazel-eyed with thick eyebrow and was dark-skinned. Having broad shoulders, his upper body was taller than the lower half of his body.
Being glorified, Osman Gazi was a heavily-built, honest, cautious, courageous, generous, abstinent, pleasant-spoken and fair statesman. He was showing attention to provide food and clothes for the ones in need by saving on both his personal income and income from war booties.
Osman Gazi was a 23-year-old man when he took the lead of Kayi Tribe Principality in Sogut in 1281. Riding a horse, swordsmanship and fighting a battle were the features he was making a success of. Founded the Ottoman Empire that is to reign over for six hundred years in Sogut and Domanic in three different continents, he turned out to be the master of Anatolia in a short span of time in consideration of the intricacies in Eastern Roman Empire during its term of falling.
During his decease, the Principality was reigning over the territories between Eskisehir and Bursa and also blockaded Iznik and Bursa which were normally under control of Eastern Roman Empire. Osman Gazi expanded the territories survived after his father Orhan Gazi for at least 3 times and escheated them to his son, Orhan Gazi. Osman Gazi deceased of “Podagra (goutte)” in the year 1326.
